Built on the strength of eight generations of winemakers and the successful establishment of a 70-hectare estate, the Dupuy family is committed to a modern and human outlook on Bordeaux wines. The Côtes de Bourg appellation combines perfectly both its terroir and the values it represents: pleasure wines with a strong identity and environmental approach topped with qualitative price performance. Today’s challenges are as many motivations to offer you a range of fine red wines up to the current consumers’ palates and expectations.
Winemakers since 1772, our ancestors were already producing grapes at “Noliquet” in Lansac. Some of these plots of land are part of our heritage today.
A year of grand celebrations! The Dupuy and Gautrat families, both vineyards’ proprietors, were joined together through marriage when Gilbert Dupuy asked for Huguette Gautrat’s hand. At the time, the joint family vineyards located in Tauriac and Mombrier covered eight (8) hectares. This event marked the beginning of our wine-growing operation as it currently stands.
The purchase of vines brought the estate to about twenty hectares. Until then, the wine was sold in bulk, but Gilbert Dupuy started producing bottled wine in his quest to reach a superior quality. From this pursuit of excellence was born Château Labadie. This beautiful rounded vintage is named after Labadie, a locality in the vicinity of Tauriac where the old winery, vineyards, and family home sit.
Following in his father’s footsteps, Joël Dupuy joined the family business and contributed to the evolution of the estate as a whole: restructuring the facilities, purchasing additional vines, and creating a second brand: Château Laroche Joubert. The old and new generations worked side by side until 1998, when Joël replaced his father at the head of the company.
Our new vat room and cellar is operational! The Cagna facilities in Mombrier can house the entire estate’s production, from vinification to ageing and storage. New plots of land were purchased, thus bringing the vineyard to 66 ha. To reflect this development, a new business structure is created “SCEA Vignobles Joël Dupuy”.
The family’s fascinating wine adventure continues. Damien, the eight generation of winemakers, joins the domain and introduces new blood, ideas and desires to the organisation. He conducted his studies and gained experience in France and abroad to expand the Dupuy family’s know-how and better apprehend the current global viticulture realities.
More ambitious projects took shape in 2018. We accelerated our environmental efforts through the High Environmental Value certification (HVE3 in French) granted in 2019 and implemented non-chemical weed control. We extended our concrete vat room to continue to improve our vinification tool on Mombrier. Gabin, a new limited-edition vintage of only 4000 bottles produced from a sole grape variety (100% Malbec) was launched in spring 2020
